Metro rail to operate from 8:00am to 8:00pm from May 31

The metro rail will be operated for 12 hours between 8:00am and 8:00pm by taking passengers from all the nine stations on the Uttara-Agargaon route in Bangladesh capital Dhaka to facilitate the passengers, according to the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited.

In a press conference on Thursday, the company managing director MAN Siddique announced the new timing of the service.

From May 31, he also said, the weekly off day of the service would be Friday instead of the current weekly off on Tuesday.

The notice also said that the trains would run every 10 minutes between 8:00am and 11:00am considering the peak hours from the day.

Between 11:01am and 3:00pm the trains will run every 15 minutes considering the off peak hours.

Again, considering the peak hours, the trains will run every 10 minutes between 3:01pm and 6:00pm.

The trains will run every 15 minutes considering the off peak hours between 6:01pm and 8:00pm.

The metro service will remain closed on the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha day, he said.

Currently, the country’s first-ever metro rail service runs for six hours from 8:00am to 2:00pm daily on the route

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina launched the country’s first-ever electricity-powered elevated and air-conditioned rail system on December 28, 2022.
